VIII Tashkent International Bienniale

September 18, 2019, 12:09 - December 19, 2019, 12:09

The concept: “Art and new technologies. Pros and cons”.
What place does an artist – as a unique creative unit with their artistic product- assume today in the modern globalized and technocratic world? To what extent is this issue timely? Artists throughout the history of mankind, its best representatives, have established themselves as one of the most advanced thinkers and inventors who with their innovative ideas in the field of artistic creativity and science, aesthetic views influenced society. Their achievements continue to inspire all mankind to this day. Suffice it to mention only a few of them: Leonardo da Vinci, Samuel Morse, Salvador Dali, Nicholas Roerich, Pablo Picasso …
Today, despite the rapid technical progress, the priority of high human art has not been canceled, as well as their carriers. The modern means of artistic expression and methods, the objects of aesthetic exploration, etc., were enriched and modified, but the tasks of art remained the same – to transmit living artistic evidence, thoughts and experiences to the most relevant things that are happening in the world around us. You can say, real priceless artifacts for future generations – who and what we were, our ups and downs.. In this context, the role of artists, as well as of all creative people, is invaluable. To the same extent, they themselves must realize the full responsibility and high mission of their destination, and, without remaining aloof from the burning issues and problems of the present, actively react. It is symbolic that the VIII International Tashkent Biennale of Contemporary Art will be held this year in 2018, announced in Uzbekistan as the “Year of support of active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies”. We hope that this international art forum will to some extent respond to the main focal point of the VIII Tashkent International Biennial – how to find a balance, how to preserve the human, without losing eternal values in the era of inevitably developing technological innovations, and about the place and role of the modern creator in these conditions.
